Traded for a Player to be Named Later: Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck has parted ways with Disney on their upcoming screen adaptation of Texas Western's (now known as UTEP) 1966 NCAA championship run, Glory Road. Affleck was set to play Coach Don Haskins in the project. Depending on the source, Affleck either had a scheduling conflict(too much poker?)or failed to come to terms with the studio on profit sharing issues. (See Hoop Dreams)

For my part, this comes as a major disappointment. I was looking forward to seeing him in this picture. Now we'll just have to wait to see who winds up in the flick. Josh Lucas seems to be the likely suspect at this point. He's an affable guy and I'm sure he'll do a fine job.

Maybe Affleck should consider doing a flick where he plays a baseball coach. Ben Affleck as Don Zimmer? You know, Zim used to coach the Red Sox. Hmm...
