Waiting on Deck
Coming to a theatre near you tomorrow!
Collateral (R)
Starring: Tom Cruise, Jamie Fox, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Mark Ruffalo, and Peter Berg.
Written by Stewart Beattie; Directed by Michael Mann
Jamie Foxx is an L.A. cabbie taken hostage by Tom Cruise, a contract killer on a quest to knock-off five material witnesses in one single night. The trailer did absolutely nothing for me. My interest level on this one is very low.
Little Black Book (PG-13)
Starring: Brittany Murphy, Ron Livingston, Holly Hunter, and Kathy Bates
Written by Melissa Carter and Elisa Bell; Directed by Nick Hurran
Ron Livingston used to date this supermodel, a fact that his present girlfriend Brittany Murphy can't seem to get around, especially since he chose to omit that little bit of trivia. With the clandestine aid of Holly Hunter, the girls heist Livingston's PDA and begin to play Magnum PI with his past by interviewing all his exes. The trailer piqued my curiosity last night. I haven't been particularly fond of Murphy's films of late, but Holly Hunter looked positively addictive in her scenes. My interest level is now above .500 for this flick.
There are a couple of limited release films that really intrigue me, but limited releases seldom make it out here. Open Water, the story of two scuba divers stranded ins shark infested waters, and Code 46, a sci-fi throwback with Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton about a supposed "incompatible" couple fleeing authorities to preserve their romance. I'd also love to get a look at Stander, starring Thomas Jane.
